Oakville Hydro is proud to announce the commencement of its Public Electrical Safety Survey. This initiative aims to assess the community's understanding of staying safe around electricity and electrical equipment.

A Public Awareness of Electrical Safety Survey is required by the Ontario Energy Board every two years and Oakville Hydro is committed to compliance and wants to encourage all residents to take part. This year, participants will be asked six questions corresponding to the most frequent incidents involving utility equipment. The survey, which only takes a few minutes to complete, provides crucial information that will help Oakville Hydro understand the public’s awareness of electrical safety.

"We are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community," said Peter Michaud, Vice President, Sustainability, and Chief Health and Safety Officer at Oakville Hydro. "This survey allows us to understand the knowledge gaps and areas for improvement in how we educate our customers about electrical safety. By participating, residents play a crucial role in shaping the safety initiatives that will benefit everyone."

This year, for every survey response collected, Oakville Hydro will donate a meal to those most in need right here in our community, multiplying the benefits of survey participation.

Residents of Oakville aged 18 and above are requested to participate in the survey. The questions cover safety topics related to powerlines, tampering with green transformer equipment, and other electrical hazards that may pose risks to individuals and their loved ones.
