Ottawa, Canada—Oakville Hydro has been recognized with a President’s Award for Safety Excellence by Electricity Canada at the Powering Partnerships event. The President’s Award is given to electricity service providers that achieved the top ranking in Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) amongst their peers. With a TRIF rate of zero.
Rob Lister, Oakville Hydro’s President and CEO shared, “Safety is our top priority! I am very proud of the Oakville Hydro team’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across all of our operations.”
For more than 30 years, Electricity Canada has tracked and monitored the safety records of its member utilities annually, and the data collected provides key insights in how to best mitigate incidents in future. Using this data, the President’s Award for Safety Excellence is given to electricity companies who are safety leaders in the industry. The award recipients have demonstrated the least number of injuries or no injuries at all last year, based on the following metrics: Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) and All Injury/Illness Frequency and Lost-Time Injury Severity Rates.
Francis Bradley, Electricity Canada’s President and CEO added, "Electricity Canada’s members have been focused on every aspect of health and safety, in every aspect of the industry—from generation to transmission to the distribution of electricity to Canadian customers. We are proud to showcase the best of occupational health and safety in 2023. It is a great reminder that safety is always top of mind for our member utilities."
