To switch pricing plan, you will need to notify Oakville Hydro either by completing an election form or by contacting us at 905-825-9400 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM).
You may not wish to change your electricity pricing plan. In that case, no action is required.
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) announced rates effective November 1, 2023 for residential and small business customers under the Regulated Price Plan (RPP). See the image below for rates and hours/thresholds. On May 1, 2024, summer Time-of-Use (TOU) hours and the change in the Tiered threshold for residential customers under the OEB’s RPP will take effect and remain in place until October 31, 2024. Electricity prices for both price plans and the Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) price plan remain unchanged.

Ontario Electricity Rebate
On November 1, 2019, the Ontario government launched the Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER), which started being applied to bills for eligible residential consumers, farms and small businesses. As of November 1, 2023, the OER will be 19.3% and is a pre-tax credit that appears at the bottom of electricity bills.
If you have a residential or small business (general service less than 50 kW) account with Oakville Hydro, you do not need to do anything. You will automatically receive the OER. Learn more and see if your business qualifies at this link.

Distribution Charges - January 1 to December 31, 2024
At Oakville Hydro, we purchase the electricity we deliver to customers at market prices and earns no margin on the sale of the commodity. Oakville Hydro’s charges account for approximately 21% of the total bill for a typical residential customer.
The other charges on your bill are collected by Oakville Hydro on behalf of other electricity market participants, including generators, transmitters, retailers and regulators.
Visit the OEB website for more information on rate changes and electricity pricing.
